This is an awesome recipe from my bro-in-law Rajesh. All of us love this dish.

Ingredients:

To make the patti:
3 medium potatoes
1 onion
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
oil 5 tbsp
chilli powder 1 1/2 tsp
salt
Turmeric 1/4 tsp
Chat masala 1/2 tsp
Bread Crumbs 3/4 cup
Oil for frying

For Ragada:
1 cup dry white peas
oil -3 tsp
jeera 1/2 tsp
1 onion chopped
3 Roma Tomatoes (Bengaluru thakkali) chopped
salt
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Garam masala 1/2 tsp

For Garnish:
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup Sev / Ompudi
5 tsp tamarind chutney

Pattis: Boil potatoes. Peel them and mash them lightly. In a bowl mix all the ingredients for the patti. Roll out lemon sized balls and flatten them on plastic sheets. Deep fry till evenly golden brown. Keep aside.

Ragada: Add oil in a kadai, splutter jeera. Add chopped onions. When it gets glassy, add the tomatoes. Add chilli powder, salt, garam masala. Once the tomatoes get soft, stir in the cooked peas. Add 2 cups water and bring to a boil.

Top the pattis with ragada and garnish with sev, tamarind chutney and onions.

Tamarind Chutney:

Soak 1 lime sized ball of tamarind, 3 tbsp of powdered jaggery, 1/2 tsp salt and microwave on high for 3 minutes. Extract the juice of tamarind completely and discard the solid waste.

I tried this out last weekend when my cousin visited us! But instead of deep-frying the patti, I let it roast on a tava.
The ragada come out amazingly..thanks a lot for the recipe :)
