Tomato Brinjal Gothsu/Gravy

Tomato Eggplant Gothsu

This is an awesome side dish for idlis, upmas, dosas. It has a lovely tangy flavour!

Ingredients:
1 tomato -coarsely chopped
1 onion - fine chopped
1-2 Indian Eggplant- coarsely chopped
1 tsp sambhar powder
1 lemon sized ball of tamarind-extracted
Hing-3 dashes
Salt to taste
Turmeric 1/4 tsp
Oil-2 tsp
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Channa Dal- 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig

Add oil in a kadai. Splutter mustard seeds.
Add channa dal and roast till it gets golden brown. Add the curry leaves.
Add onions and saute till transparent.
Add tomatoes and brinjal and saute well till soft.
Add tamarind extract and bring to boil.
Add hing, turmeric, salt and sambhar powder.
Boil well till the raw smell of sambhar powder vanishes
Serve with Idli or Arisi Upma

oh wow i love this so so much easy to make and as u said good combo with idli dosas.. i too make often.. I make same with potato and tomato too..

I love this with dosa too.. :) But mom used to make it a little thick in consistency.. Ippove sapdanum pola iruku..
